In 2011 hairstyles are all about movement. That may sound like an odd theme as people generally want their hair to stay in place, however this is about a look and is descriptive of the overall feel of 2011 hairstyles. Styles are seen to be moving due to clever hair cutting and styling techniques, for example slashed layers, brushed in various directions, give the illusion of very free moving hair, even if it is held in place with a spray. It is fluffy, airy and wispy, leading to an almost ethereal look.

Center partings are back in fashion, looking best on round and oval shaped faces, a center parting gives a nice symmetry to hairstyles and of course is easy to maintain. With blunt, thick, long bangs / fringes popular in 2011, a center parting is a way to wear the hair on days that you maybe do not have time to style the thick, blunt fringed look. So it gives the option to be versatile with your bangs.

The latest look for bangs (or fringes), as previously mentioned, is a blunt, full look. Rather than being cut straight across, they are being cut in arc shapes, which adds that new look. They are long and so need to be cut regularly, as just hovering above the eyes, too long will be annoying, so you may need to get some hair cutting scissors, to keep your blunt bangs in tip top condition, without breaking the bank.

2011 hairstyles are seen to contain lots of interesting new braiding techniques. Adding braids to hairstyles makes them look more interesting and adds a splash of detail that can give that extra swag to an otherwise common look. Fishtail plaiting is nice, but also basket weaves and really any kind of braid you can imagine. Incorporating a braid into your hair, really looks great and updates any style. You can also buy pre braided hair extensions, that can be clipped in and wound around the head.

Wet looks are fashionable for short cropped hairstyles in 2011, but can also be worn on longer hair, at the tips, giving a just out the shower look, fresh and clean! The other look is big hair, voluminous, but not harsh. Voluminous hair should be softened by using gentle teasing with a comb and sea salt spray. Long hairstyles in 2011 can also be lush, that is, long full and in excellent condition, with perfectly formed waves, such as worn by Kate Perry. If your hair does not have that much volume, hair extensions can be clipped in and in recent years have become more widely available and not expensive.

2011 hairstyles can be any color, but most popular are bright shades of blonde and red, as well as deep multi tonal dark shades for brunettes. Panels of hair color that give the illusion of shine and hairstyles that have different shades in the tips or roots are also popular. John & Edward, the Jedward Twins, were seen in Glasgow this week, where they are touring with the X factor,

The boys were without their signature quirky quiff hairstyles and had opted instead for a very cool windswept and textured hairstyle that looks great.

John & Edwards debut single Ice Ice baby, came out in January.

How To Bleach Your Hair - Before And After Pictures

I never realised how easy it was to change your hair colour. I started experimenting with bleach at the end of last year and now have the process down to a fine art. It really does not take much time, effort or money to bleach your hair and all the horror stories of the damage it does, appear to me to be unfounded, if anything my hair looks and feels in better condition now, maybe due to all the intensive conditioners that come along with the bleaching products.

Here are a couple of before and after pictures, to see how even someone with very dark hair can go blonde...

I used Jerome Russels 40% vol peroxide and powder bleach, available in Boots and any chemist for just a couple of pounds. This initially got my hair really blonde, but then I had the problem of regrowth, the roots of course would show very quickly and there was no way I could afford to go the the hairdresser every couple of weeks. I was worried that my hair would get over processed, but I have found that i I can use L'Oreals Recital Preference, ultra lightening, and it does not damage my hair at all and keeps the roots looking light. It comes with an excellent conditioner, ceramide protein, that makes the hair really soft and shiny.

My other tp for bleached hair, is to use Kerastas Chroma Riche shampoo and conditioner. It makes hair really soft and also brightens the tone as well. I have a silver shampoo for if my hair gets too yellowy and the kerastase can add golden tones if it gets greyish. Sometimes I use a Clairol born blonde toner, to add a certain tone, such as beige or ash to my hair.

I wish I had done this before, I always wanted blonde hair, but it is onl in recen years that better products have become available. It really is easy to do at home, it is scary the firt few times, but there is really nothing to worry about, if you follow the instructions on the packs, do strand tests and have a little patience, you will be able to get your hair the shade you want.

It is that time of year again when people start to think about the coming year. In 2009 hairstyles are exciting, with a strong forties influence bringing gloss and glamour to long, short and mid length hair alike.
